Devin
AI software engineering agent for planning and executing coding tasks, fixing bugs, creating pull requests, testing software, handling migrations, and automating engineering workflows.
About Devin
Devin is an AI software engineering agent from Cognition designed to plan and execute software development work. It can handle engineering tasks including application development, bug investigation and fixing, code migrations, refactoring, testing, documentation, performance optimization, issue triage, and pull request workflows.
Devin can work across complex and multiple repositories, create pull requests, respond to review feedback and CI results, and retain approved knowledge about a codebase. Engineering teams can also run multiple Devin agents in parallel for larger projects. Devin can use past session trajectories to improve its understanding of ongoing work.
Tasks can be assigned through environments including GitHub, Linear, Slack, Microsoft Teams, the Devin API, and Devin Automations. Devin also provides local workflows through Devin CLI, where developers can work with their repository and shell and hand a session to Devin Cloud to continue running remotely. Devin Desktop provides an environment for planning, delegating, monitoring, reviewing, and managing local and cloud coding agents.
Key Features
- Autonomous Engineering Work: Plans and executes software engineering tasks including feature development, bug fixing, migrations, refactoring, testing, and documentation.
- Pull Request Workflow: Creates pull requests and can respond to code review feedback and CI results as work progresses toward approval and merge.
- Multi Agent Execution: Can use multiple Devin agents for large engineering projects and parallel work across repositories.
- Knowledge and Context: Can learn approved codebase knowledge and use information from previous session trajectories when working on future tasks.
- Multiple Triggers and Interfaces: Work can originate from GitHub, Linear, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Devin Automations, the Devin API, Devin CLI, and other supported workflows.
- Local and Cloud Workflows: Devin CLI runs against the developer's local repository, shell, and credentials, while tasks can be handed off to Devin Cloud for continued execution.
