Pipedream
Integration layer for AI agents featuring managed auth, over 10,000 prebuilt tools, 3,000 integrated APIs, and a raw proxy. Enables developers to securely deploy agents with MCP servers and SOC 2 Type 2 compliance.
About Pipedream
Pipedream is a specialized integration platform and infrastructure layer built specifically to support AI agents. By abstracting the complex plumbing of API authorization, token refresh flows, and user-level permissions, Pipedream allows engineering teams to focus on agent behavior rather than custom authentication infrastructure. The platform acts as the intermediary between an AI agent and the external applications it needs to interact with.
Through its Connect and Conduit products, Pipedream provides developers with a secure token vault, a raw API proxy, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers. The platform ships with a massive registry of prebuilt triggers and actions, allowing agents to instantly access tens of thousands of endpoints securely.
Key Features
- Managed Authentication: Handles OAuth dances, secure token storage, and automatic token refreshes for over 3,000 APIs.
- MCP Servers: Gives AI agents access to over 10,000 tools through a single Model Context Protocol endpoint.
- Connect Proxy: A raw proxy that attaches user credentials and sends requests to any endpoint without routing credentials through your servers.
- Conduit Gateway: Allows companies to manage employee application access to AI agents with SSO and a full audit trail.
- Prebuilt Tools and Triggers: Deploy real-time webhooks or run actions with per-user authentication in a single call.
- Enterprise Security: Credentials are encrypted at rest, scoped per project, and backed by SOC 2 Type 2, GDPR, and HIPAA compliance.
Pricing
-
Free: $0 Full access in development with 3,000+ connectors, unlimited team members, and community support. Cannot be used in production.
-

Use Cases
- AI agent tool execution
- Automated per-user API authorization
- Building custom AI integrations
- Secure token management
Pros & Cons
Pros:
- Eliminates the need to build custom OAuth plumbing for agents.
- Native support for Model Context Protocol (MCP).
- Massive pre-existing library of 10,000+ tools and triggers.
Cons:
- Costs scale based on granular usage credits and external users in production.
- Advanced compliance (HIPAA, SSO) is restricted to custom Business plans.

FAQ
What counts as an external user in Pipedream?
Each distinct user of your app who connects at least one account through Connect, identified by the external user ID you pass. One user with five connected apps counts as one external user.
What happens when I pass 100 external users on the Startup plan?
Nothing breaks — each additional user is billed at $2 per month. If you scale past a few thousand users, volume pricing is available on the Business plan.
How are usage credits calculated?
Running an action, calling a tool through MCP, sending a request through the Connect proxy, and emitting an event from a deployed trigger each use 1 credit per 30 seconds of compute. Listing apps and management calls do not use credits.
What is the difference between development and production in Pipedream?
Development provides full API, SDK, and MCP access to build and test for free. Serving real external users requires upgrading to the Startup plan for a production environment.
