Brave Search API
Brave Search API provides web, news, image, video, local, and LLM optimized search data from Brave's independent web index for applications, agents, and search experiences.
About Brave Search API
Brave Search API gives developers programmatic access to Brave's web search index for building search applications, AI agents, chatbots, research tools, content aggregation systems, and data enrichment workflows. Brave documents an index of more than 40 billion pages, with more than 100 million page updates per day.
The API includes Web Search for human readable ranked results and LLM Context for machine consumption. Web Search supports web results, news, images, videos, local information, freshness filtering, country and language targeting, search operators, safe search, pagination, extra snippets, and custom reranking with Goggles. The LLM Context endpoint returns extracted web content and source metadata designed to be passed to models and agents.
Brave Search API uses REST and API key authentication. Requests include the API key in the X-Subscription-Token header. The API uses major versions in endpoint URLs, such as v1, and also supports the Api-Version request header for locking behavior to a dated API version.
