Argos CI
Argos is an open-source visual testing tool designed to prevent UI regressions by automating screenshot comparisons and providing AI-agent ready debugging workflows.
About Argos CI
Argos CI is a highly flexible, developer-centric visual testing platform designed to seamlessly integrate into modern continuous integration (CI) workflows. Operating with an open-source core, Argos focuses on catching visual regressions across web applications before they are deployed to production. It provides engineers with clear, actionable visual diffs that highlight exactly what changed in the UI, ensuring that unintentional styling bugs do not slip past code reviews.
The platform is engineered to support a wide variety of testing frameworks and deployment strategies, including Storybook and static site deployments. Argos distinguishes itself by calculating usage transparently based on successful build screenshots, rather than charging per user seat. It offers robust media sharing capabilities, allowing teams to generate team-scoped links for screenshots and recordings directly tied to pull requests.
Furthermore, Argos is built with modern automation in mind, featuring an "agent-ready" CLI and REST API. This allows AI development agents and automated bots to inspect builds, read machine-readable diffs, and even self-correct visual mistakes prior to human intervention. With built-in flaky test detection and deep integrations with platforms like GitHub and GitLab, Argos serves as a reliable guardrail for front-end stability.

FAQ
How is usage calculated in Argos?
Usage is calculated based strictly on the number of screenshots uploaded during successful builds. Screenshots uploaded during failed builds do not count toward your monthly usage quota.
Can Argos test mobile applications?
Yes. As long as your testing framework can capture and send screenshots to the Argos platform, it can be utilized for mobile application visual testing.
Are my visual screenshots kept private?
Screenshots for open-source projects are public. For private repositories on paid plans, screenshots are restricted to authorized team members with options for private deployment protection.
Can AI agents interact with Argos?
Yes, Argos is 100% agent-ready. AI agents can use the CLI and REST API to inspect builds, read machine-readable diffs, and attach media to pull requests without incurring separate agent charges.
What happens if I exceed my monthly screenshot limit?
On regular plans, you cannot upload additional screenshots until the billing cycle renews. On usage-based plans, you are simply billed a fractional overage rate per additional screenshot.
